This transformation function is used to convert RGB images into grayscale images.
Two conversion methods are available:
- Weighted
This method mimics human visual perception by assigning different weights to the red, green, and blue channels.
It generally produces more visually accurate grayscale images.
- Unweighted
This method assigns equal weight to all RGB channels.
It is significantly faster but may produce a more washed-out appearance compared to the weighted method.
Despite this, it works well as a preprocessing step for many computer vision algorithms.
