This transformation function uses the Soundex algorithm to measure the similarity between two strings. Soundex is a phonetic algorithm used to index words by their pronunciation in English. Its purpose is to encode homophones into the same representation so that they can be matched despite minor differences in spelling.

This function is best suited for comparing names or words that sound similar in English.
